Re: installation on OS X 10.7

All I wanted to do was install it and make it work. I only tried all that complicated stuff because the documentation seemed to indicate that it was necessary. Ah, if I'd understood that initially, I would not have troubled you at all! That seems to work, thank you. Also I didn't think there would ...

Re: installation on OS X 10.7

I wasn't sure about what you were trying and what you would prefer... So, I should be able to just double-click on the "app" folder and it should Just Work? Without any installation of all the other stuff? I'm not a Mac person, so I didn't know that was a reasonable thing to try. As for th...

Re: installation on OS X 10.7

I assume that you use a Mac with Mac OS 10.7. polymake has been successfully compiled both with and without fink. Take 2.12, there is no reason that 2.11 should make something easier, but you miss a lot of new features. There are binaries on the download page, that should work in all but very few ca...

Re: Mapping between faces of triangulation and faces of poly

It seems you are using an older version of polymake, as WEIGHTS has been declared as a subproperty of TRIANGULATION in the newest. The following should also work with your version though. You can access the convex hull of a point configuration $pc from within $pc by asking for its CONVEX_HULL. This ...

Re: problem with 'load'-command

Have you produced the first file on a windows computer? I have seen such an error message with files that have a DOS type CR/LF. The difference is invisible in most text editors (e.g. emacs) even on other OS. Emacs might show you in the modline. Does the error persist if you create a new file with s...

Re: CONE: "pointed"-property

You are right, any ray in the input must be non-zero. This is not checked during construction. Many rules wouldn't care, and reducing to RAYS also removes [0] from the list, but in your particular case the rule for POINTED uses INPUT_RAYS and assumes that any non-zero scaling of a ray is different f...

Re: Method for deciding property REGULAR of fans.

Indeed, This would be a nice feature. We are working on this, and it will be implemented in one of the next releases of polymake.

(for developer reference, this is #472)

Re: equal_polyhedral for non-pointed cones

You input is not valid, the section RAYS contains only rays for the pointed part of the cone, while your rays span a two dimensional linear space. This would be recorded in the property LINEALITY_SPACE (by giving a basis of the space). There is a distinction between these reduced properties RAYS/LIN...

Re: Perl versions Mac OS X 10.6 x86_64

For reference, the thing that I needed was to add the following line to my .profile export VERSIONER_PERL_PREFER_32_BIT=no Many thanks for finding the problem, and for telling us the solution! Enjoy polymake. The above option should have been the default, but there is more than one place to change ...

Re: Schlegel diagrams using jreality

I would be rather surprised if building on i386 does not work, although I didn't test it. But apparently Customize.o is x86_64, so somehow the arch-flag didn't make it to the appropriate gcc-command, or was wrongly set. Are other files compiled correctly (e.g. the *bundle files in <POLYROOT>/build*/...
