Re: Tropical Basis Computation

Yes indeed, tropicalization = tropical variety of an ideal. For computing that, I do recommend installing gfan (even if you wanted to use it through our interface, you'd still need to install it separately). Singular should also have its own tropicalization functions soon, but I don't know if that i...

Re: Tropical Basis Computation

Hello Satya! Polymake definitely cannot do this at the moment (In any case, since this is an algebraic computation rather than a polyhedral one, this would be a task for Singular or GFan). Polymake has interfaces to these two software systems, but as far as I know, neither currently has a function f...

Re: polymake config not finding jni headers

I looked at the configure script for a bit and all I could find out was this: As far as I understand, the script tries to locate the path to the java binary and saves it in $JAVACMD. This is then used to try several possible paths to the jni headers. However, all these approaches seem to depend on t...

polymake config not finding jni headers

Heyho! I'm using the most recent svn version of polymake and the ./configure is no longer recognizing my java. More precisely, the build.x86_64/bundled.log complains that "java seems to belong to a pure Java runtime installation: JNI headers (most prominently jni.h) were not found." Howeve...

Computing the shortest path in a graph

Hi! I have a rather large graph::Graph object and would like to compute the shortest path between two nodes. I noticed that there seem to be (at least C++-side) implementations of shortest-path algorithms in application graph. However, I'm not quite sure how to use them. My guess is there isn't any ...

Re: False results when computing bases/ranks on minors

No problem - how do I do that? :D I have never used trac before. I can probably look up some general tutorials on trac on the internet, but everything I found so far involved elaborate setups of databases etc... is there a simpler way to use this? (Maybe even a GUI frontend? *hope*) :) If not, maybe...

Re: Concatenating matrices in 2.11 produces segfaults

Follow-up: While I do have read access to the svn repository, when I try to check it out, I cannot download some directories in external/ (e.g. jreality). svn asks me for my credentials but finally fails to authenticate. Do these have different access rights and might I have read access? :) make kee...

False results when computing bases/ranks on minors

I sometimes get false results when I compute linear algebra stuff like basis_cols, rank, etc on matrix minors. This does not happen for all possible input, but I managed to find a small example that reliably produces a wrong result on my machine (polymake 2.10) as well as on the web version of polym...
