Re: Corrupt or incomplete installation

It seems that creating a symlink in /usr/lib/polymake/bundled/sympol/lib/ from common.so to polytope.so allows it to work.

Corrupt or incomplete installation

After I constructed a 4-dimensional polytope from vertices, I wanted to get its symmetry group, so I tried: $GP = linear_symmetries($P); Then I got the message polymake: ERROR: Corrupt or incomplete installation: shared module /usr/lib/polymake/bundled/sympol/lib/common.so missing The same error occ...

Re: A bevy of requests

That all sounds like very good news. I look forward to the release!
Thanks very much.

A bevy of requests

It would be great if support for the E6 and E7 groups could be added to the \texttt{wythoff} polytope constructor. Looking at simple_roots.cc, it seems this is just a matter of adding the root systems, which can be found on e.g. Wikipedia. At first I thought that the obstruction was that the simple ...

Re: Combinatorial automorphisms

Thank you, that worked perfectly. That little snippet of Perl wizardry to create $genarray would have taken me forever!

Combinatorial automorphisms

I have constructed a combinatorial polytope, by specifying VERTICES_IN_FACETS. I would like to know the size of the combinatorial automorphism group (that is, the automorphisms of the face lattice.) Is there some way to determine this?
Thanks.

Orthogonal projections

Say a projection of a polytope P onto a hyperplane is regular if the normal vector to the hyperplane is not parallel to any proper face of P . The number of combinatorial types of regular projections of a polytope is finite. I want to find m_j(P) , the maximum number of j -faces of a regular project...

Re: Constructing Uniform Polytopes

joswig, thanks for the tips. I take it that means I will have to construct the higher-dimensional polytopes "manually." As I mentioned, most of these are provided as a base vector, taking all the permutations of coordinates, and possibly sign. I think I've figured out a way to do this (I a...

Constructing Uniform Polytopes

I'm interested in looking at the uniform convex polytopes in various dimensions: the 18 Platonic and Archimedean solids, the 64 uniform polychora , the 105 known uniform 5-polytopes , etc. Is there some convenient way to construct or load these in polymake without manually entering coordinates? Fail...
